From dwayne at translate.org.za Tue Jan 26 13:26:22 2010 From: dwayne at translate.org.za (Dwayne Bailey) Date: Tue, 26 Jan 2010 13:26:22 +0200 Subject: [translate-announce] Afrikaners set a fine example in championing their language, do you? Message-ID: <1264505182.2323.29.camel@db> Hi Translate.org.za people, "Afrikaners set a fine example in championing their language", says Sunday Times editor Mondli Makhanya http://bit.ly/8pCtje While Mondli blames government I think that is a bit unfair as we citizens have a greater responsibility to ensure that our languages flourish http://bit.ly/6411In So on the topic of what you can do, why not try some of these: 1) Install Mozilla Firefox http://bit.ly/fx-dwnld (in Afrikaans if you prefer http://bit.ly/fx-afr ) Why? Because that way you can use all of our spellcheckers 2) Now go and install a spell checker http://bit.ly/za-spell so that you can tweet and Facebook without error. Tell your boss that you're promoting your language as you update your status. We're about to begin testing Firefox in Northern Sotho so stay tuned to happenings here at Translate.org.za -- Dwayne Bailey Associate Research Director +27 12 460 1095 (w) Translate.org.za ANLoc +27 83 443 7114 (c) Recent blog posts: * Everyone has the power to champion their language http://www.translate.org.za/blogs/dwayne/en/content/everyone-has-power-champion-their-language * What I'm loving about Virtaal 0.5.0 * Translation Memory difference highlighting in Virtaal Firefox web browser in Afrikaans - http://af.www.mozilla.com/af/ African Network for Localisation (ANLoc) - http://africanlocalisation.net/
