Hi,
Want to work for Google? While participating in the Google Summer of
Code (GSoC) might not mean you actually work for Google it will give you
a chance to show your programming metal.
The GSoC allows students to work on projects for a number of mentoring
organisation over their (Northern Hemisphere) summer holidays. AND get
paid for the privilege.
Translate.org.za has been selected as a mentoring organisation for the
GSoC. Over the years we have been developing a number of translation
tools that we and many others use to simplify the translation process.
These include the Translate Toolkit (a set of tools for translators) and
Pootle (an online translation tool).
You can read the synopsis of our application and selected projects [1]
or check out the ideas page [2]. If you have another project idea then
please discuss it with us on the mailing list.
For a student this is the opportunity for you to:
* Work in FOSS
* Engage in a distributed development environment
* Exercise your Python skills
* Make some money
If you know others who would love to participate but aren't on this
mailing list then please forward them information about the Google
Summer of Code.
PS: Don't delay, you have until the 31 March to register as a student
and select a project.
