Dear Friends,
Happy New Year!
Greetings from all at
translate.org.za. In the
interests of furthering
our various mother
tongue languages, we
have a good list of New
Year's Resolutions for
you ...(apart from the
one to send
Translate.org's New
Year's resolutions
sooner than the end of
January next year ;-)

TEN THINGS(+1) TO SHOW
I CARE ABOUT MY
LANGUAGE
I. Bank with ABSA.
They have ATMs
programmed in
most of our
eleven South
African
languages and
have been
forerunners in
making banking
accessible in
all languages
II. Choose a cell
phone that has
an interface in
your own
language. They
are out there,
you just have to
find them.
III. Set your
webbrowser to
your mother
tongue. Take a
look on our site
for
instructions.
IV. Phone 1023 and
speak your home
language,
whatever it is.
They do have
people who speak
the different
languages and
it's more than
okay to ask.
V. Insist on
government forms
and websites in
your language.
It's part of our
constitution
VI. Use only
software that is
translated into
your language.
Enough said on
that one.
VII. Read a novel in
your home
language – there
is good
literature out
there, find it
and enjoy it
VIII. Write a blog in
your mother
tongue. There
are surprisingly
few blogs in
South African
languages other
than English.
IX. Contribute to
Wikipedia in
your own
language.
X. Have business
cards printed in
your own
language.
And finally ....
Translate this list into
your mother tongue and
send it on to your
friends.
Have a happy 2007 and
thanks for your
support.
